Artist of the Week Interview
With Eye-Que
Stage Name:
Eye-Que
Birth Name:
Quintin Lee Antoine Fields
What Inspires you?
Everything in existence. I watch a plethora of different programs on television and they all bring something inspiring to the picture. Life, family, friends, love, hip hop culture, struggles, pain, nature, and of course God.
What’s your favorite thing about living in Chico?
The community has so much area for hip hop to grow and be accepted in every way, shape or form. It’s a small and pretty peaceful college town waiting to show the world that there is great talent in the city. The housing prices are really cheap too…lol…
How and when did you get started in the music business?
I got started in the music business at around 15 years old. I started out solo, then I joined a group (T.Y.P.) and recorded a couple dozen songs. After a few years with the group, multiple distractions and scheduling problems happened as well as me going off to college. I was told I should be a solo artist for a long time, and although we are still a group, I am working on my solo project (Class Is In Session EP).
Give us a little background info about your song of the week:
Well the song of the week is titled “What it Seems” and it is basically illustrating the changes as well as the problems in society. I decided to compose this record with DASH from P.AND.A and give the people who like soft harmony something to listen to as well as a smooth flow from myself. The beat was produced by Shadrach of P.AND.A and it is a prefect fit to a song that will open your eyes.
Where can fans listen to more of your music?
Right now MySpace is the only place to hear the music of Eye-Que. Don’t worry, I am working on my website as we speak and I will definitely have some tracks for the listeners. I also have a few rap battles you can find at cruxarts.com. Well, now that I think about it, you can also visit rakoworld.com and check out the third song on the site if you want to hear a tune from Eye-Que. Now besides those two places, stay up to date on the MySpace page and I will definitely keep you updated. http://www.myspace.com/eyequethegenius
Influences:
I am influenced by all that surrounds me. Poverty, family, a job, college, relationships with optimistic and pessimistic people…Let’s just say everything.
What do you want your fans to know about you?
I want my fans to know that I’m me and that’s all I can be. I will always speak it how I see it. I’m real, I’m grown, and gifted with the ability to illustrate the hip hop through my lyrical text.
If you have upcoming shows, please list them here:
I have one upcoming show. It is on the 2nd of August this year of course. It will be held at Chico State’s Amphitheatre. It’s for a fashion show so come dressed to kill. People will be arriving at 5PM, free admission. I will be rocking the stage with P.AND.A and Dusted Phoniks. Come out and show your support. Thank you.

The Hooliganz and Why they love Chico
I recently wrote to each member of the Hooliganz, including their DJ and producer. I was originally going to ask them a question for our first edition of our newsletter, but their answers were kind of lengthy and I didn't want to edit anything they wrote, so I thought this might make a cool blog entry. So here it is: I asked each of them "What's your favorite thing about Chico?" And here's their responses.... J Pigg
“My favorite thing about Chico is…the city’s relaxed atmosphere. Everybody can just chill and have a good time. We know how to party out here the right way!! And this is where the Hooliganz started!”I2K
“My favorite thing about Chico is the laid back atmosphere and attitude of all the people. It’s a great place to be at.”B Lee
“My favorite part of Chico is the people. They are a very mice easy-going bunch.”DJ Marvel
“How friendly the people are. Whether you are hanging out at a bar or one of the local swimming spots, you can just start a conversation with someone and before you know it, you know some of the same people. Chico is a really great place to meet cool people.”Irthwirm
“How everything is so close together: the school, the bars, housing and downtown area. Makes the town more intimate compared to other popular Cal schools like Cal Poly or Santa Barbara, which are great schools, but everything is spread out. That’s what gives Chico the edge.”
So there you go, folks. Leave a comment, and let us know what your favorite thing is about Chico. Also, visit http://www.chicoblogteam.com/ and see what's happening in the Chico Nightlife Scene!
